Geraldine R. Ortega, LUVWI Chairman
Denny as she is fondly called by close friends and relatives, is presently serving as the Chair of the famous La Union Vibrant Women, Incorporated (LUVWI) provincial chapter which has expanded with 1 city & 19 municipal chapters. At present, they are expanding to Barangay Chapters. They sponsor several livelihood development programs of the women in the province.
Her deep advocacy towards saving the environment remains as she holds the distinction as one of the few front-runners of San Fernando City's famous Botanical Garden. She is also an advocate of the beautification program along Gov. Joaquin Ortega Avenue and airport road to showcase the serious thrust of government in making La Union as the lead tourism destination of the north.
She is also the Chair of the Folkloriko ti La Union, Inc., a cultural organization that preserves and showcases the essence of iloko and indigenous peoples and/ or tribal and folk dances as well music, and transforming them to theater arts.
She is a devoted catholic. She promotes religious activities by giving rosaries to our province mates and sponsoring mass baptisms and weddings and blood donations. She has initiated the visiting of hospitals, provincial jail and women's center in Agoo through the LUVWI.
She likewise finds time to visit our province mates in the country side braving the heat of the blazing sun or the storm during the monthly "Operation Rang-ay iti Barangay" program of the provincial government by giving inspiration to the stakeholders and clienteles that indeed, the government is at their doorsteps and within their reach. She assists in the supplemental feeding program.
She is a Bachelor of Science Major in Accounting graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas and happily married to the original agay-ayat kadakayo amin, Gov. Manuel "Manoling" C. Ortega and they are blessed with seven successful children: Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III, former City Councilor and Board Member of La Union and now Abono Partylist representative; Jennifer Joan O. Manguiat, a business woman; Geraldine Joy O. Gidaya, Executive Assistant of the governor; Manuel Victor R. Ortega Jr. (Mannix), the President of the Association of the Barangay Councils of La Union; Alfredo Pablo R. Ortega, (Alfred), City Councilor of San Fernando City and PCL La Union Chapter President; Eduardo Francisco R. Ortega; and Joseph Francisco R. Ortega who are still students.
Geraldine Ramos Ortega had earned the admiration of our people when she took her way in making the province's top man move further to make La Union a better place to live in.
